The administration of the Louvre Museum in Paris estimated the value of the damage resulting from the theft of jewels that occurred on Sunday at 88 million euros, according to what the Public Prosecutor of the French capital, Laure Picot, said on Tuesday.
Picot told the RTL station that “the curator of the Louvre Museum estimated the damage at 88 million euros,” which is an “extremely huge” amount, but it is “insignificant and incomparable to the historical damage,” noting that the thieves “will not reap this value… if they had a very bad idea of melting down these jewels.”
