AWS announced an “operational issue” affecting the East Coast of the United States.
Amazon’s cloud business was hit by an outage on Monday, causing disruption to several key global web services and applications.
AWS on Monday announced an “operational issue” affecting “multiple services” in the US East Coast region.
Websites including Snapchat, Lloyds Bank and BT suffered outages, according to Downdetector.com.
“Engineers were immediately engaged and are actively working to mitigate the issue and fully understand the root cause,” AWS added in its operational update.
Experts, most notably Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, predicted on Friday that huge, gigawatt-scale data centers will be built in space within the next ten to 20 years, surpassing those on Earth thanks to the continued abundance of solar energy.
