Captain Amin, the goalkeeper coach at Al Salam Stadium in Port Said, died today, following a sudden heart attack while supervising the training of the goalkeepers inside the stadium, in an incident that brought to mind the death of his son Ahmed Amin, the goalkeeper of the Rabat and Al Anwar team, who died several months ago inside the same stadium after the end of his team’s training.

Eyewitnesses said that Captain Amin was, as usual, training the goalkeepers, before he sat in the middle of the field and complained of shortness of breath. Then he said to his colleague, Captain Wael Hamed: I am saved like this, thank God, and he repeated the Shahada five times, to surrender his soul to its creator amidst the astonishment of the players before the ambulance arrived.
Those close to him confirmed that since the death of his son, he has been living in a state of constant sadness. The memory of Ahmed has never left him, and he always said: I wish I could go to him. They explained that he visited his grave this morning and wrote on his personal account a painful post in which he said: Sadness is dying… I miss you, Ahmed, and God needs you, my son, as if he was saying goodbye to him before leaving.
A state of sadness prevailed among the people of Port Said and the sports community after hearing the news, stressing that fate brought the father and his son together in the same place they loved, inside the green rectangle that witnessed their moments of giving with football, so that the father could end his life as his son’s life had been concluded, in the same stadium that brought them together in this world and the journey of eternity.
