Omani boats shined in the popular rowing boat race for the Cup of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
The race, which extended for 3,000 metres, saw the Omani boat “Bal Arab”, captained by Nokhatha Humaid Salem Al Bahri, win first place, while the Bahraini boat “Hurricane 1”, captained by Nokhatha Abdullah Khalifa Al Haddi, came in second place, and the boat “Ahd Oman”, captained by Nokhatha Hamoud Salem Al Bahri, came in third place in the third race within the eighth edition of the Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Sports season.
The Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Sports Season, in its eighth edition this year, is one of the most prominent events that embodies Bahrainis’ connection to their ancient maritime history, as it includes a series of marine championships and races that are held under the patronage and interest of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
During the season, the popular rowing races witnessed the holding of two main races for the His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup and the Legacy Cup, with wide participation from teams of sailors and sailors from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which reflects the great momentum and increasing demand for this heritage sport, which is a symbol of national identity and pride in maritime heritage.
