Ogun Urban Renewal Drive Attracts World Bank Attention- Sokefun

 

The Infrastructural Development and Urban Renewal embarked upon by the State Government has put the Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning under focus by World Bank, on the “Ease of Doing Business”, based on the initiatives of the ministry.

The Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun made this known during a chat with newsmen on the achievements of the Ministry in the last three years.

Mrs. Sokefun said her Ministry was pivotal to the Infrastructural Development and Urban Renewal Programme of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, through adequate development control, monitoring and effective policy formulation for physical planning in the State.

‘’Clearing of shanties, removal of illegal structures and maintenance of minimum set back on the major roads within the State, as well as development control are embarked upon as a activity by the Ministry’’, Sokefun said.

The Commissioner said the Ministry amongst other things had produced a development plan in support of the New Abeokuta City, Raster Imageries of the major cities within the State to ease monitoring of developments, as well as Urban Renewal Base Map for Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, Ilaro and Ota and now has a Land Use Zoning Map to guide investors in their request for land.

She added that approval for simple and major developments would now take not more than two to three weeks, provided the applicant submitted all necessary documents as requested for processing.
