216 CDAs Get N49.5m For Self-Help Projects In Ogun

To facilitate more development at the grassroots towards complementing government’s efforts at that level, the Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun has presented a cheque of N49.5million to 216 Community Development Associations (CDAs) in the State in form of grants-in-aid to execute self help projects in their communities.

 

Presenting the cheque to the beneficiaries at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Amosun described the CDAs as veritable tools for grassroots development.

The Governor said “today’s disbursement of 49.5million naira as grants-in aid and subventions to our various CDAs and CDCs will among other things motivate, strengthen and boost the operational efficiency and activities of our Community Development Associations  and Community Development Councils.”

He reiterated that his administration would continue to support the CDAs across Ogun State within the available resources at its disposal, enjoining the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously to improve the living standard of people in their communities.

Amosun also pledged to support the construction of the CDCs secretariat with N5million to fast -track the completion of the project.

The Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Gbenga Adenmosun in his welcome address, expressed confidence that the effort by government would be deeply felt at the grassroots as the subventions would go to 210 Area Community Development Committees, 20 Zonal Community Development Committees, three Senatorial Community Development Committees including the State Council.

At the occasion, the Chairman, State Community Development Council, Alhaji Razaaq Ikupoliyi, applauded the State Government for investing in the people especially of the grassroots, pledging the Council’s unalloyed resolve to complement government’s effort at improving the lives and living standards of people in communities across the State.
