Journalist Ahmed Schubert said: Sources within Al-Ahly club confirmed that the matter was merely verbal talk at the level of administrative officials between the two clubs, but they did not reach any agreement, and those responsible for football in Al-Ahly welcomed the match, but there is fear about the team’s crowded agenda.
He added: I see that Al-Ahly’s match schedule is normal, especially since the team is not linked to the Intercontinental Cup, unlike last season, and even if it will compete in the African Championship, it is not as pressured as before.
Schubert concluded his statements by saying: Al-Ahly does not mind playing a friendly match against Al-Ahly Jeddah if it is in return for good money.
The Saudi Al-Riyadiah newspaper had previously revealed the details of the agreement between the Al-Ahly and Al-Ahly Jeddah administrations regarding holding a friendly match between the two teams, during the currently ongoing hiatus.
The Saudi newspaper confirmed that negotiations between the two clubs began a few days ago and are progressing positively, and that they will be hosted by one of the main stadiums in the city of Jeddah after the two parties agree.
