Hisham Nasr, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zamalek, said in exclusive statements to Cairo 24: Thank God for achieving the victory. This is the beginning of the first period to restore confidence to the players, and it is certainly a very positive beginning for coach Ahmed Abdel Raouf, and we will try to compensate the fans in the coming period for the recent events in the club.
Nasr explained that the person responsible for changing Yannick Ferreira is the entire Zamalek board of directors, saying: The change in the technical staff is the thought of the entire board and we are all at the heart of one man. What is important is the interest of the Zamalek club, and certainly the greatest need in the Zamalek club is the loyal audience.
Hisham Nasr pointed to Zamalek’s withdrawal from the African Handball Championship, revealing the reason behind CAF’s cancellation of the sanctions imposed on the Zamalek club. He said: Who does not know in the whole world that we are suffering from a financial crisis? The withdrawal incident was the first time in the history of Zamalek. I said earlier that this was a mistake, but the decision is completely beyond our control. We made the necessary apology and CAF officials understood the matter because this is Zamalek’s largest team to win the African Handball Championship.
He continued: We have the right to have an excuse with the officials. Zamalek’s exit from the African Championship and loss to Smouha in the Egyptian Super Cup final is certainly a sad matter for us and the fans, but the construction phase will take at least two or three years, so we are changing the complexion of the entire team.
He concluded: The Egyptian Super Championship was not on our schedule to begin with. The Croatian coach who leads the team has good potential and everyone knows that, but he needs time to raise the level of the players. There were some injuries to the Zamalek team before the Smouha match, and the opponent was ready for us, but we will not stop building or supporting, and I know that the fans need a win, specifically in handball, and this takes a long time with the weak capabilities that we are experiencing, as everyone knows.
Hisham Nasr: The youth sector in Zamalek has no compliments
Hisham Nasr also confirmed in other statements to journalists that the youth sector in Zamalek does not have any compliments, as he said: Zamalek is a popular team and its only ambition is to win every championship, and in order to be first in any championship, we must not avoid the participation of those with strong competencies in order to have the members’ children participate. Everyone participates according to competence, because in the end the fans direct the blame to the board of directors.
Regarding the Super Cup match, he said: Ahmed Abdel Raouf is a very honorable personality. The players worked hard in the Pyramids match. We were playing a strong match against the African champion, but Zamalek was fighting for the win, and thank God for achieving it.
He concluded: If Abdel Raouf can win the Egyptian Super Cup, he can continue with Zamalek normally. He is very committed and knows technical matters very well.
