The British newspaper The Guardian, citing the British Muslim Foundation (BMT), the government’s official partner in monitoring Islamophobia, revealed an unprecedented rise in attacks on mosques across Britain in recent months, explaining that more than 40 percent of these incidents included the use of British or English flags and national symbols of a Christian nature.

The Foundation stated that the past three months witnessed a series of attacks described as violent and disturbing, including setting fire to a mosque in East Sussex, shooting an air weapon at the windows of a Merseyside mosque while children were inside, in addition to pelting the window of a mosque in Greater Manchester with stone tiles, and smashing the window of a mosque in Glasgow using a metal tool.
The data showed that 25 mosques across the country were subjected to 27 attacks between July and October, more than a quarter of which were of a violent or destructive nature.
Some of the attacks also included writing offensive slogans on walls and installing crosses and flags at the entrances to mosques, while three of them were subjected to repeated attacks, an indication of the growth of extremist nationalist motives and the intensification of the climate of hostility against Muslims in Britain.
