To discuss developments in the regional situation, the Foreign Minister meets his Slovakian counterpart

Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad, received Juraj Planar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, on the sidelines of his visit to Cairo to participate in the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The two sides reviewed the course of bilateral relations between Egypt and Slovakia, and stressed the excellence and development they are witnessing in various political, economic, cultural and tourism fields, while emphasizing the importance of continuing joint work to advance economic and commercial cooperation to reflect the great potential of the two friendly countries.

In this context, Minister Abdel Ati appreciated the recent signing of the memorandum of understanding for technical cooperation in the field of environmental protection and climate change, in addition to the memorandum of understanding on economic cooperation concerned with the launch of the joint economic committee between the two countries, noting that holding the first sessions of the joint committee will represent an important step towards expanding cooperation in the fields of investment and trade.

The situation in the Gaza Strip

The meeting also dealt with regional developments, as Minister Abdel-Aty briefed his Slovak counterpart on the developments of the situation in the Gaza Strip following the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, and the ongoing efforts to consolidate the agreement to stop the war, and facilitate the access of humanitarian and relief aid, in addition to the preparations for the International Conference on Early Recovery, Reconstruction and Development in Gaza, scheduled to be held in Cairo this month.

The meeting concluded with Minister Abdel-Ati thanking his Slovak counterpart for the humanitarian aid that his country sent to Egypt, to support relief efforts and alleviate human suffering in both Gaza and Sudan.
