Dr. Ahmed Karima, professor of Islamic law at Al-Azhar University, responded to the question: “Are Egyptian antiquities forbidden, and is it not permissible to go to see them?”
Those who forbid antiquities accuse the Companions of betraying Islam
The professor of Islamic law at Al-Azhar University said that this is incorrect, and that the antiquities are considered part of civilization, and that they existed in the time of the Companions, and that whoever says that accuses the Companions of betraying Islam.
The professor of Islamic law at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif University added, in television statements, that “if the antiquities are sacred and criminal, like statues, according to the custom of those who forbid them, then this is considered an accusation against the Companions because the antiquities were present in the time of the Companions.”
He pointed out that the law regulating fatwas must be applied to those who say these words, so that no one comes out and says incorrect things about Islam.
Earlier, Dr. Hassan Al-Yadak, Secretary of Fatwa at the Egyptian Fatwa House, answered a question directed to him, which read: If a patient is being treated in a hospital outside Egypt, and the workers there are non-Muslims, will angels surround him? Is it permissible to pray in this place?
The Fatwa Secretary explained during the “People’s Fatwas” program broadcast on the People’s Channel, that treatment anywhere inside or outside Egypt, whether the one in charge of it is a Muslim or non-Muslim doctor, is permissible according to Sharia law and there is nothing wrong with it, because treatment is a permissible matter and coexistence between people is legitimate.
He pointed out that if a patient attends prayer in the hospital, he should pray as he would pray in any other place, as the prayer is valid as long as the place is pure.
Dr. Al-Yadak explained that the angels surround the sick person and pray for mercy for him, citing the hadith of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, when he said that the angels give good news of a great reward to those who visit a sick person, explaining that this blessing does not depend on whether the healer is a Muslim or a non-Muslim, as the blessing of divine mercy surrounds the patient, God willing, everywhere.
