
The University of Applied Sciences participated in the activities of the World University Rectors’ Forum and the International Forum for Higher Education, which were held from 7 to 9 November 2025 at the Hangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center in the People’s Republic of China.
The event was organized by the Chinese Higher Education Association and Zhejiang University, with the participation of more than 500 university presidents, decision-makers and academic experts from around the world under the slogan: “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Higher Education.”
The university delegation was headed by Professor Dr. Waheeb Al Khaja, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and was accompanied by Professor Dr. Hatem Al Masry, President of the University, and Professor Abdullah Al Khaja, Advisor to the President for Follow-up Affairs and Director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department.
This participation confirmed the University of Applied Sciences’ commitment to enhancing international cooperation and openness to prestigious higher education institutions in China and the world.
During the forum, Professor Dr. Hatem Al-Masry gave a keynote speech in the parallel session on “The Development of Artificial Intelligence and Innovation in Higher Education Governance,” entitled “The University of Applied Sciences: Leading the Path of Justice through Digital Transformation,” where he reviewed the strategic initiatives adopted by the university in the field of digital governance, smart education, and comprehensive practices that enhance justice and equal opportunities in higher education in the Arab region.
The University of Applied Sciences extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Higher Education Council in the Kingdom of Bahrain for its continued support to enable Bahraini universities to participate in international academic forums that contribute to developing quality and innovation in higher education. The University also expresses its deep gratitude to the UNESCO Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen, for its continued efforts in supporting regional cooperation, exchanging knowledge, and promoting sustainable educational development in the Arab region.
Through its active participation in these two global events, the Applied Science University confirms its leading position as a pioneering academic institution in digital transformation, research excellence and educational innovation, which reflects the growing role of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the global scene of higher education.
