Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi, Minister of Parliamentary, Legal Affairs and Political Communication, confirmed that the transitional period scheduled before the start of implementation of the new Criminal Procedure Law on October 1, 2026 will be sufficient to understand its texts and materials and prepare the technological infrastructure necessary to establish the Public Prosecution Announcements Center.
Application of the Criminal Procedure Code
Mahmoud Fawzi explained, during a telephone conversation with journalist Sherif Amer, on the Happening in Egypt program, broadcast on MBC Egypt, that the transitional period will benefit all parties, and will allow for a strong and effective implementation of the new law when it enters into force.
Mahmoud Fawzi added that the old law will continue until October 1, 2026, stressing that there will be no amendment to the currently applied texts during that period.
Mahmoud Fawzi stressed that the new law includes many amendments that are in the interest of the citizen and work to improve the efficiency of the criminal justice system.
