Today (Wednesday), the General Secretariat of the Shura Council received a delegation of British parliamentarians’ assistants, during its visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, where the delegation was briefed on the nature of the work of the legislative authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the progress it has achieved in terms of developing the legal and legislative system, in light of the continuous development the Kingdom is witnessing within the process of national action under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, may God protect and preserve him.
During the meeting, Dr. Fawzia Yousef Al-Jib, Advisor to the Speaker of the Council, conveyed the welcome of His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, and His Excellency Mrs. Karima Muhammad Al-Abbasi, Secretary-General of the Council, to this visit, in the presence of Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Aradi, Assistant Secretary-General for Resources and Digital Systems, noting what these visits contribute to enhancing the exchange of expertise and practical experiences in the areas of administrative and technical support directed to members of the legislative authority, and their effective role in developing work mechanisms and exchanging best institutional practices.
Dr. Fawzia Al-Jib also provided an integrated explanation about the vital role played by the General Secretariat of the Shura Council in providing technical, administrative, advisory and technical support and support to Their Excellencies the members of the Council, which contributes to enhancing the efficiency of legislative work and improving its outcomes. She indicated that the General Secretariat has achieved qualitative achievements at the regional and international levels, by obtaining advanced ranks in the fields of digital transformation, administrative development, and institutional development, stressing that these achievements reflect the effectiveness of institutional performance. The General Secretariat was keen to adopt best practices.
She also noted the active role of the Gender Balance Committee in the Council, which contributes to supporting a fair work environment based on all national competencies and contributions, and strengthening institutional initiatives that translate the Council’s commitment and belief in gender balance as a consistent approach within its work processes.
Through the introductory presentation, the delegation was briefed on the work of the legislative authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the powers of the Shura Council, the committees it includes, and the coordination and cooperation mechanism between the Shura and Representatives Councils, in addition to the role played by the General Secretariat in supporting Their Excellencies the members of the Shura Council, while the delegation visited the Council’s session hall.
For its part, the delegation of British parliamentarians’ assistants expressed their appreciation for the fruitful meetings and rich information that the visit included, which enabled them to learn closely about the comprehensive development process taking place in the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially in the legislative aspect, stressing the importance of these visits in strengthening parliamentary cooperation and exchanging legislative experiences, which contributes to consolidating bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and learning about the Bahraini democratic experience as an advanced model in the region.
