The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by Ms. Fatima bint Jaafar Al-Sirafi, Minister of Tourism, participated in the twenty-sixth session of the General Assembly of the United Nations Tourism Organization, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during the period from 7 to 11 November 2025, under the slogan “Tourism supported by artificial intelligence: redefining the future,” which coincides with the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the organization, with the participation of delegations from more than 160 countries, in addition to a number of organizations and actors in the sector. Global tourism.
During her participation in a dialogue session on the sidelines of the session entitled “Artificial Intelligence-Powered Tourism: Redefining the Future,” the Minister of Tourism stressed that highlighting the applications of artificial intelligence in tourism reflects the international community’s awareness of the pivotal role of modern technologies, due to their role in developing the global tourism system and enhancing its sustainability, noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches increasing importance to expanding the use of artificial intelligence technologies in various sectors, especially the tourism sector, so that these technologies become a driver of creativity and innovation.
Al-Sayrafi explained that employing artificial intelligence solutions would help analyze trends and tourists’ behavior and derive insights, and thus make thoughtful and informed decisions that contribute to improving the quality of services, developing and diversifying the tourism product, and improving destination management, in a way that enhances the unique tourism experience that characterizes the Kingdom, and supports the sustainable growth of the sector and the national economy as a whole.
She added: “Today, artificial intelligence represents an essential pillar in building a more sustainable and efficient future for the tourism sector, and we look forward to continuing to work with our regional and international partners to harness the latest technical solutions in order to enhance innovation and raise the competitiveness of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a prominent tourist destination on the global level, in line with the objectives of the tourism sector strategy 2022-2026.”
The course’s activities included a number of topics related to the future of the sector in light of rapid technological developments, with a focus on transformational strategies and innovations as essential tools for redefining the tourism sector and paving the way towards a more sustainable and prosperous tourism future. The latest examples of the use of artificial intelligence in the field of tourism were also reviewed, and the sessions also addressed regional and global investment trends in the sector, with a focus on the Arabian Gulf region.
