International journalist and lawyer Khaled Abu Bakr confirmed that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum represents a major cultural and economic shift for Egypt, explaining that the project must be viewed in its comprehensive context, as a global cultural edifice and a cultural and economic attraction that re-establishes Egypt’s position on the global tourism map.

Khaled Abu Bakr: The Grand Egyptian Museum is a witness to the stability of the state and its ability to create civilization

Abu Bakr said, in television statements, that the importance of the museum does not stop at being an antiquities museum, but rather that it is a symbol of the culture and identity of the Egyptian nation, and a sign of the political, security and economic stability of the state, stressing that there is no country going through turmoil that can complete a huge cultural project of this size and open it to the world.

He added that the museum, which collects for the first time the entire collection of King Tutankhamun, the most famous king in history and the most attractive archaeological figure in the world, places Egypt in an advanced position on the map of international museums, especially since the treasures related to the Golden King are the most famous and sought-after in the antiquities sector globally.

Abu Bakr pointed out that the opening also carries a clear economic and investment dimension, pointing out that the private sector has already begun to move to exploit the development opportunities surrounding the museum, revealing previous statements by businessman Hossam Al-Shaer, who confirmed during his meeting with him that there is a race from investors to obtain lands to establish hotels and tourism projects in the vicinity of the museum, in addition to what businessman Hisham Talaat Mostafa announced regarding the establishment of a “Four Seasons” hotel near the site.

Abu Bakr concluded that the Grand Egyptian Museum is not just a cultural facility, but rather a comprehensive national project that demonstrates the strength of the Egyptian state and its ability to plan and implement prosperously, and represents a new gateway to a tourism and cultural future that raises Egypt’s reputation globally and enhances its cultural status among nations.
