Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, announced that the governorate was preparing to celebrate the historic opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is one of the most prominent civilizational and cultural projects in the world, stressing that this day represents a proud moment for every Egyptian and a cultural message that confirms the Egyptian state’s ability to achieve and give.
Displays at 92 locations
Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr explained that Assiut has completed all preparations to provide the opportunity for citizens in various cities and villages to follow the opening activities in a joyful, festive atmosphere, through 92 sites that were equipped with giant display screens distributed throughout the governorate, including 20 sites in neighborhoods and cities, and 45 sites in rural units, in addition to 27 youth centers that were supported with additional screens to broadcast the proceedings of the official ceremony and documentary and promotional presentations about the museum and its collections. A unique antique that embodies the genius and creativity of the ancient Egyptian.
The governor added that the main celebration in Assiut is being held today at the Assiut Sports Club, with the participation of executive and popular leaders and representatives of civil society and youth, in a scene that reflects the pride of the people of Assiut in their ancient civilization and their confidence in the future of their homeland, noting that the governorate was decorated with flags and banners in the main squares and streets to celebrate this global event that consolidates Egypt’s cultural status.
The Governor of Assiut also thanked Dr. Yasmine Al-Kahky, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education at Assiut University, for her support and participation in the artistic and cultural activities accompanying the celebrations, stressing the importance of the role played by academic and cultural institutions in establishing national awareness and introducing Egypt’s ancient history.
The governor pointed out that the Directorate of Culture is actively participating in the celebrations by implementing artistic workshops, ceramic workshops, and storytelling workshops in a number of culture palaces spread throughout the governorate, with the aim of enhancing archaeological and cultural awareness among citizens and linking new generations to their national heritage, as the Assiut Folklore Band presents a distinctive Pharaonic performance that is presented for the first time during the main events at the Assiut Sports Club, to express the greatness of Egyptian civilization and embody the spirit of belonging and national pride.
He stressed that all executive agencies are on full alert to secure the show sites and provide a safe and organized atmosphere for citizens, in coordination with the security services to ensure the flow of traffic and the quality and continuity of broadcast without interruption, in addition to raising the efficiency of cleanliness and public services in all gathering places.

Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr concluded his statements by stressing that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum today is a national and historical event that embodies the greatness of Egypt and its civilizational and cultural leadership, adding that the people of Assiut are proudly participating in this global event, which is a message of peace and enlightenment from the land of Kenana to the entire world.
