The Governor of Assiut inaugurates the first phase of the Egy Smart Academy to serve children with disabilities at Al-Fath Center

Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, opened the first phase of the Egy Smart Academy at Al-Fath Center, to provide educational and rehabilitative services and integrated care for children with disabilities, within the framework of the state’s efforts led by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to advance people with disabilities, empower them, and integrate them into society, in implementation of the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the sustainable development strategy.

The governor was accompanied during the opening by Mohamed Ibrahim Desouki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Assiut, Hassan Othman, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Head of the Al-Fath Center and City, Mona Abu Al-Mawaheb, Director of the Special Education Department, Dr. Hossam Al-Badri, General Director of Schools, and a number of executive and educational leaders.

During his tour inside the academy, the governor inspected the classrooms and modern educational means, and listened to an explanation from the Chairman of the Academy’s Board of Directors about the implementation stages and equipment that took place inside the building, which includes preparing 10 classrooms and 4 remedial classrooms with a capacity of 200 students in the first stage.

The governor explained that the headquarters will be equipped to be an integrated and comprehensive model for people with special needs, as it will include an integrated floor equipped with the latest means for rehabilitation and treatment, including rooms for speech, occupational therapy, behavior modification, family counseling, and sensory integration, in addition to a hall for artistic and musical activities and a garden equipped for children, ensuring the provision of a safe and stimulating educational environment that takes into account the needs of students and their individual abilities.

Major General Hisham Abu Al-Nasr confirmed that the Egyptian state pays great attention to the category of children with disabilities, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership, stressing that the governorate is working to overcome obstacles and harness all capabilities to support and care for this category and fully integrate it into the educational process.

The governor added that such specialized projects contribute to developing children’s skills and developing their abilities in proportion to their potential, and at the same time achieve sustainable development goals by promoting the principle of justice and social inclusion.

The Governor of Assiut concluded his tour by affirming his full support for all initiatives and projects aimed at caring for and empowering people with disabilities, praising the efforts of civil society institutions and the private sector in this field, and stressing that Assiut Governorate is moving steadily towards building a more aware and humane society that provides equal opportunities for all its people.
