A phone call took place between Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Abroad Affairs, and Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination between the two countries on bilateral relations and regional issues of common interest.
The call dealt with the course of bilateral relations between the two countries, as the two ministers stressed the depth and strength of the fraternal relations between Egypt and the Kingdom, and the increasing momentum they are witnessing at various political, economic and development levels. The two sides also expressed their mutual keenness to continue coordination to enhance the partnership between the two countries in a way that serves mutual interests and contributes to supporting security and stability in the region.
Egyptian-Saudi coordination in supporting efforts aimed at consolidating the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement
The two ministers discussed developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of continuing Egyptian-Saudi coordination in supporting efforts aimed at consolidating and building on the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement, while pushing towards full implementation of the terms of the agreement to ensure a permanent ceasefire and alleviate the human suffering of the residents of the Strip. Minister Abdel Ati also reviewed the ongoing preparations for holding the Cairo International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza.
The call also dealt with developments in the situation in Sudan, as the two ministers reiterated the importance of a ceasefire and creating conditions to launch a comprehensive political process that preserves Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and stability.
Minister Abdel-Aty expressed Egypt’s condemnation of the horrific atrocities and violations taking place in the city of El Fasher, calling for concerted regional and international efforts to support the Sudanese people and their national institutions.
