The Civil Protection Operations Room received a report indicating that a fire had broken out inside the warehouse, and immediately a number of fire engines were dispatched, which succeeded in controlling the fire and preventing it from spreading to neighboring warehouses, with the participation of fire and rescue teams.
Sources confirmed to Cairo 24 that the warehouse contains medicines and humanitarian aid directed to the Gaza Strip, and the fire caused damage to the stored materials. The material losses are currently being assessed and the causes of the fire are being determined, which is likely the result of an electrical short.
Civil protection forces continue cooling work inside the site to ensure that the ignition does not recur, and the Red Crescent administration confirmed that work continues normally in the rest of the warehouses, and the continued preparation of aid directed to Gaza.
