The General Authority for Health Care decided to relieve the director of the Suez Medical Complex, Dr. Mohamed Abu Al-Naga, from his position, and assign a new leadership to manage the facility, following a surprise visit made by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, to the complex last Sunday, during which he monitored the complaints and observations of a number of people visiting the facility, according to a statement from a medical source in the authority to Cairo 24.

The director of the Suez Medical Complex was dismissed following a surprise visit and criticism from the Minister of Health

According to the Ministry of Health statement, the Minister listened to patients’ complaints about crowding and long waiting times, and directed the opening of additional service outlets and accelerating the response to improve the patients’ experience inside the facility, stressing that daily oversight is an essential element for raising the efficiency of the health system.

The source confirmed that the Minister of Health directed a direct criticism at the Executive Director of the Public Health Care Authority, during the tour, saying: If you don’t know how to manage it, I will get you a cleaning company that runs it, in reference to his dissatisfaction with the level of management within the complex.

The source explained that the Executive Director of Healthcare and a number of the Authority’s leaders stayed in the complex for several days following the visit, to work to avoid the technical observations monitored by the Minister, respond to complaints from beneficiaries and those who frequent the complex, and raise the level of service and interaction within the reception departments and clinics.

It is noteworthy that the Minister of Health and Population’s surprise tour of the Suez Medical Complex came about two days after Forbes Middle East magazine announced the selection of Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Health Care, among the list of the 10 most prominent government leaders in the health care sector in the Middle East for the year 2025, in appreciation of his efforts in leading digital transformation, developing the comprehensive health insurance system, and enhancing standards of quality and institutional sustainability.
