
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, affirmed that the national press represents an essential pillar in supporting growth and development efforts, with its vital role in conveying the responsible word and highlighting the national achievements that reflect the progress and prosperity witnessed by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great King of the country, noting that the sincere efforts made by the people of the country in the fields of media and journalism embody their national commitment. They are steadfast in performing their duty towards the nation and society, and reflect their high professionalism characterized by credibility and objectivity in addressing issues and conveying constructive messages, which contributes to supporting various development paths.
This came during a meeting with His Highness, at Riffa Palace today, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and a number of senior officials, Mr. Issa Al Shaiji, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Journalists Association and members of the Board of Directors, on the occasion of the issuance of the Press and Electronic Media Law, where they expressed their thanks and gratitude to His Royal Highness. The Crown Prince, Prime Minister, for his keenness and follow-up that contributed to the approval of the Press and Electronic Media Law, which His Majesty the King of the country kindly ratified, constituting an advanced step in the path of developing the media sector and strengthening its legislative system in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Highness pointed out that the issuance of the Press and Electronic Media Law reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s interest in strengthening the legislative environment that supports the development of the media sector, in line with the requirements of the stage and achieves the desired goals. His Highness pointed out that this law is an extension of the development process under the leadership of His Majesty the King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and which aims to consolidate the state of institutions and law, and support freedom of opinion and expression.
His Highness said that the sincere efforts and continuous giving made by Bahraini media professionals and journalists in carrying out their lofty mission embodies the highest meanings of loyalty and belonging to the homeland, and reflects their deep awareness and high responsibility in serving their country. His Highness praised the ancient status of the Bahraini press and the pioneering contributions made by its early pioneers, and the national competencies it abounds today that have been influenced by their giving and creativity. The march of the national media, and contributed to consolidating Bahraini identity and enhancing its presence.
For his part, the President of the Bahraini Journalists Association expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for his keenness and continuous directives to support the national press, which represents an incentive for the press and journalists to continue working and exert more effort for all that is good and advances the Kingdom of Bahrain.
