Ms. Naima Abdullah Muftah, design and technology teacher at Ibn Tufail Primary School for Boys, launched the “Creativity Club” initiative, which aims to enhance practical and creative thinking among students, through applied activities within the school.

The teacher said that the club currently consists of ten students from the third and fourth grades, who were chosen for their talent, and they meet regularly to implement various artistic and wooden works used to decorate the school environment, and include wall paintings, wooden shapes, and recycled works of art.

She added that in implementing the activities, she relies on recycling materials available within the school, such as cardboard, wood, and plastic, with the aim of establishing a culture of sustainability among students, and encouraging them to benefit from the available resources in an innovative way, with a focus on the practical aspect, by training students on measurement skills, using simple tools, and implementing prototypes for artistic and technical projects.

She pointed out that the club members participated in a number of artistic and technical competitions inside and outside the school, and achieved advanced positions, stressing that applied activities contribute to developing the students’ design thinking skills, introduce them to elementary concepts in engineering and technology in a simplified and enjoyable way, and help discover the students’ creative tendencies and refine them early.
