The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, represented by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Director General of Heritage, participated in the twenty-seventh edition of the Conference on Antiquities and Cultural Heritage in the Arab World, which was hosted by Qatar Museums in cooperation with the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), in the Qatari capital, Doha.
This year’s conference was titled “Sustaining Cultural Heritage: Challenges and Future Strategies,” where the Director General of Heritage presented a research paper entitled “Muharraq City Development Project,” in which he reviewed the existing efforts to preserve the urban and cultural heritage in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The conference activities also witnessed the launch of the “First Arab Youth Forum for Sustainable Heritage,” which aims to empower Arab youth and enhance their role in the fields of antiquities and cultural heritage protection, thus contributing to consolidating the concept of sustainability in joint Arab cultural work.
