The 37th Gulf Petrochemical Industry Championship (GPIC) Open Tennis Championships, organized by the club with the support and sponsorship of the Gulf Petrochemical Industry Company, will begin on Wednesday evening, November 12, at the Bahrain Tennis Club courts, and will continue until November 25, with large participation from various age groups and technical levels.
The tournament is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments in the Kingdom, as it has a long history extending over more than three and a half decades, during which it has established its position as one of the most prominent tournaments that tennis fans in Bahrain await every year, due to its organization, strong competition, and high technical levels.
The tournament organizing committee confirmed that it has completed all technical and administrative preparations for the start of the competitions, as the final tables have been approved, stadiums have been prepared, and all supporting facilities have been prepared to provide an ideal environment for the players, noting that the tournament will witness competitions in several categories, including singles and doubles, in addition to different age groups, which will give everyone the opportunity to showcase their abilities.
In a special statement on this occasion, Mr. Khalid Al-Abbasi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tennis Club, expressed his pride in the continuation of the tournament for the thirty-seventh year in a row, considering that this continuity reflects the strength of the established relationship between the club and the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, the strategic partner and main supporter of the tournament since its inception.
Al-Abbasi said: “The GPIC Tennis Championship is not just a sporting event. Rather, it represents a symbol of continuity and excellence, and a platform that brings together generations of players in an atmosphere of sportsmanship and fair competition. It is a tournament that carries a legacy of successes that contributed to developing the game locally and enhancing its presence in the Bahraini sports scene.”
Al-Abbasi concluded his statement by emphasizing that the 37th edition will continue its path of success, thanks to the generous support from the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company and the continuous sponsorship that represents a unique model of integration between national institutions and the sports sector.
