The Bahrain Skills Initiative of the Labor Fund (Tamkeen), in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, organized a training workshop on the role of vocational guidance in directing students towards educational and vocational paths that are compatible with the needs of the labor market, with the participation of 100 academic advisors from private schools.

The delegation, the workshop focused on enabling counselors to use (Bahrain Skills) tools such as skills reports, career path maps, and national professional standards, which helps students make more informed future decisions. The (Employment Skills) platform developed in cooperation with the Information and e-Government Authority, which provides access to accurate data about the Bahraini labor market, was also reviewed.

The workshop included practical activities that enabled counselors to integrate the acquired information into their guidance plans, and direct students towards educational and professional options that are compatible with their individual inclinations and market requirements.

For his part, Mr. Amer Marhoon, Director General of the Bahrain Skills Initiative, explained:

We at Skills Bahrain are committed to supporting educational institutions by providing academic advisors with tools and information based on labor market data, enabling them to direct students towards more informed educational and professional choices. Our cooperation with the Ministry of Education comes as an extension of our efforts to enhance the culture of early guidance, and support students in building career paths that are compatible with their individual inclinations and future aspirations, and contribute to preparing them to integrate into the labor market with confidence and efficiency.”

Professor Lulwah Ghassan Al-Muhanna, Director of the Private Schools Licensing and Follow-up Department at the Ministry of Education, confirmed that supporting academic advisors represents a pivotal step in enhancing the quality of guidance within schools, noting the importance of cooperation with (Skills Bahrain) to ensure that guidance is based on accurate data that takes into account students’ interests and aspirations.

(Bahrain Skills) is a national initiative that aims to align education and training with market requirements, by analyzing economic sectors and providing guidance tools that support the smooth transition from education to employment, in a way that enhances the competitiveness of Bahraini talents regionally and globally.
