The Undersecretary for Agriculture and Livestock Affairs at the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, Asim Abdullah, announced the end of the registration period to participate in the Bahraini Farmers’ Market for the new season, after receiving a large number of applications from various categories, in preparation for sorting them and selecting participants according to the approved standards.
The Undersecretary explained that the high demand for registration for the current season reflects the confidence of producers and farmers in this national project, which represents an important marketing platform for the local product, and contributes to supporting Bahraini agriculture and strengthening the food security system.
He stated that the organization of the new version of the market is being carried out in coordination with the National Initiative for Agricultural Sector Development and STC Bahrain, as the organizing committee continues its preparations to launch the market in line with the success and distinction of previous versions.
The agent pointed out that the total number of people registered to participate in the current season included various categories, as the number of local farmers reached 32 farmers, along with 7 beekeepers, 4 date producers, 6 nursery owners, and 4 agricultural companies, in addition to a number of restaurants, cafes, small commercial projects, and productive families.
He pointed out that the selection of participants will be based on field visits conducted by a specialized team from agriculture and livestock affairs, in order to ensure that all requirements and standards required for participation are met, and to ensure the quality of the products that will be displayed in the market.
The Undersecretary stated that the Ministry is keen on the diversity and balance of participation between the various agricultural and food sectors and local products, in a way that enriches the visitors’ experience and enhances the added value of the market as an initiative with sustainable societal and economic dimensions.
He stressed that preparations are underway for the launch of the new season of the Bahraini Farmers’ Market, which is expected to witness wide demand from visitors and consumers, given the fresh, high-quality local products it offers, which reflects the efforts of Bahraini farmers and the Ministry’s continued support for them.
