The Grand Egyptian Museum occupies a vast area of up to 500,000 square meters, twice the size of the French Louvre Museum, making it one of the largest museums in the world. The museum includes more than 100,000 artifacts that reflect various chapters of Egyptian history, as the displayed pieces vary between different periods, enabling visitors to explore 7,000 years of history.
The museum is designed in a triangular shape, facing towards the Pyramids of Giza. Its facade is covered with elegant lime and alabaster stones. In the middle of the building is a huge statue of Ramesses II, in addition to other unique landmarks such as the hanging obelisk and the grand staircase. The museum contains exhibition halls extending over large areas dedicated to displaying the treasures of Egyptian civilization, which makes the visit an immersive experience.
The museum’s restoration centers are also distinguished by being the largest in the Middle East. They are located underground with an area of 12,300 square metres, providing an ideal environment for preserving archaeological heritage. The storage of artifacts takes place in dedicated warehouses that can accommodate tens of thousands of pieces, which reflects the great efforts made to preserve Egyptian heritage and culture for future generations.
