Sheikh Ahmed Wissam, Fatwa Secretary at the Egyptian Fatwa House, answered a question from a viewer named Ibrahim, saying: What is the ruling on participating in an election or elections? Is it a national duty?

Sheikh Ahmed Wissam said during televised statements that participating in the elections is a national duty, noting that the citizen must have a positive role in society, explaining that the elections have begun and every individual must have an effective role in choosing who he sees as righteousness and reform in his district or governorate.

Fatwa Secretary: It is not permissible to fail to participate in the House of Representatives elections

The Fatwa Secretary added that failure to know the candidates or reluctance to participate is considered a failure against the nation, because every citizen must be aware of who he chooses, and search for the best person who has provided useful work for society before running for office, such as repairing roads or participating in service or legislative projects.

Sheikh Wissam stressed that participating in the elections is part of building the land that God Almighty has commanded, saying: Our Lord, Glory be to Him, has commanded me to build the land, and building requires that I be aware and aware of what the interest is achieved.

He stressed that participation in the elections should not be neglected, because it is a national duty that contributes to achieving the public good and the stability of society.
