The eastern desert road of Al-Karimat witnessed a tragic accident that claimed the lives of 8 people, including a father and his son, Hammam Sayed Hassan Hammam and Yasser Hammam Hassan Hammam, residents of the village of Ashmant in the Nasser Center, north of Beni Suef Governorate, while 7 others were injured as a result of a microbus overturning at the top of the road.
The Rescue Operations Room received a report stating that a traffic accident had occurred near the Karimat Gate. Police forces, supported by ambulances, immediately moved to the site of the accident. The examination revealed that a microbus carrying a number of passengers had overturned, killing 8 people on the spot and injuring 7 others with separate injuries.
Initial investigations indicated that the car was coming from Beni Suef Governorate on its way to Cairo, and while it was traveling on the Karimat Road, the steering wheel became loose in the driver’s hand, and the car flipped several times, causing the horrific accident.
The bodies were transferred to Atfih Central Hospital at the disposal of the Public Prosecution, while the injured were transferred to receive the necessary medical care, and the effects of the accident were removed using traffic cranes to facilitate movement on the road.
The necessary report was drawn up regarding the incident, and the Public Prosecution was notified to initiate the investigation, which ordered the assignment of a technical committee to inspect the scene of the accident and explain its causes.
