Today, in the presence of Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transport and Communications, and a number of figures and officials, the Ministry of Transport and Communications inaugurated the new sea line linking the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Qatar, in a qualitative step that enhances the movement of transport, tourism and trade exchange between the two brotherly countries.
The sea line runs from Saada Port in Muharraq to Ruwais Port in Qatar, and the journey takes only about an hour and ten minutes, making it a comfortable and fast option for travelers.
According to an informed source, the approximate price of a round-trip ticket is about 26.5 Bahraini dinars in the tourist category, and approximately 36.5 Bahraini dinars for the VIP category, with snacks provided during the trip, indicating that the official prices will be announced later.
In the first phase, two flights will be operated daily, gradually increasing to eight flights daily during the coming weeks. Coordination has also been made with Masar Company to provide buses to transport passengers from Ruwais Port to the heart of the capital, Doha, where the land trip takes approximately an hour.
The source explained that the next stage will witness the launch of an official application dedicated to electronic reservations, allowing travelers to choose dates and categories and confirm the reservation, with the Ministry announcing the details of the official operation and reservation mechanism soon.
The Ruwais area, located in the north of the State of Qatar, is one of the prominent coastal areas. It includes “Souk Al Mina”, which is an old popular market that reflects the heritage and maritime character of the region, in addition to the proximity of Ruwais Port to a luxurious seven-star health resort, which is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the north of Qatar.
Work is currently underway to develop the next phase of the project, which will include car rental services in cooperation with Masar Company, in addition to activating the vehicle transport service by sea in later stages, which will contribute to providing an integrated travel experience for travelers between the two countries.
The inauguration of the new sea line comes within the framework of the Ministry of Transport and Communications’ efforts to enhance regional connectivity and develop the multimodal transport system, in support of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s vision of upgrading the transport infrastructure and expanding travel options for citizens, residents and visitors.
