Mahmoud Abdel Razek Shikabala was declared captain Zamalek The former supported John Edward, the club’s sporting director, and hoped the experiment would be a success.
Shikabala’s statements
Shikabala said in statements with journalist Ibrahim Fayek on MBC Egypt: I hope John Edward’s experience with Zamalek Club succeeds, and the experience of the sports project succeeds, and I want the interests of Zamalek.
Shikabala added: I spoke to Mamdouh Abbas on the phone and told him that I had made a decision that I would not be able to continue and would retire. He said, “No, it will not work.” I told him, “No, that’s it.”
Shikabala continued: Muhammad Al-Asi called me and spoke to me about the issue of John Edward. I told him, “I will retire.”
Shikabala continued: With all due respect to anyone, if I wanted to continue, I would have completed, and no one would tell me to retire, good luck, and when I told Ferrera to walk because he had to walk, in the end he actually walked.
Shikabala added: I am looking for something for John Edward because I want the experiment in Zamalek to succeed.
Shikabala concluded his statements by saying: It is shameful to say that Zamalek fans have someone to move them, as this is the only constant thing in the club.
