Journalist Sherif Madkour revealed the details of the incident where he was subjected to abuse on social networking sites, and how he dealt with it legally, stressing that he decided this time not to remain silent about the insult.
Sherif Madkour: I filed a report against a person who abused me electronically… and I stipulated that he must make a donation to Ahl Masr Hospital
Madkour said during a broadcast in which he appeared on his official Facebook page, that a page recently published two photos of him, one recent and the other from his high school period, and he received comments varying between positive and negative, but one of the people wrote an inappropriate comment, which prompted him to go to the Internet Investigations Department in the Abbasiya Department to file an official report.
He explained that after tracking the account, it turned out that the person who wrote the comment lives in Helwan, and that he is 59 years old, adding that his daughter contacted him later, apologized, and told him that her father had been arrested, and was released after paying a bail of 10,000 pounds, with the case being transferred to the Economic Court.
Sherif Madkour indicated that he stipulated that in order to waive the complaint, the man must go to Ahl Masr Hospital to donate to the injured there, and take a picture with his picture in the hospital during his donation, stressing that he did that and apologized deeply, which prompted him to waive the case out of consideration for his circumstances.
Madkour concluded his speech by saying that he wanted the incident to send an awareness message about the necessity of respecting others on social media, and not using social media to abuse anyone, especially celebrities.
