Drawing the draw for the first Khalid bin Hamad Basketball Championship for secondary schools

The Ministry of Education organized a drawing ceremony for the first edition of the Khalid bin Hamad Basketball Championship for Boys’ Secondary Schools for the academic year 2025-2026 AD, in the Ministry’s hall in Isa Town, in the presence of Ms. Kifaya Habib Al-Anzour, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Services, and a number of Ministry officials, representatives of sponsors and players from participating schools. The ceremony began with the presentation of a group of videos that reviewed the most prominent tournaments and sporting events organized by the Ministry during the past year, reflecting its keenness to enhance activity. School sports, and expanding the base of student participation in various team and individual games. The ceremony witnessed the drawing of the group stage lottery with the participation of 16 schools that qualified from the preliminary round, where the results of the lottery were balanced, as the first group included schools: Muharraq Secondary School for Boys, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Secondary School for Boys, Sacred Heart, Abdul Rahman Kanoo, while the second group included schools: Al-Taawoun Secondary School for Boys, Al-Naeem Secondary School for Boys, Al-Noor International School, and the American School, while the third group included: the Center Nasser Scientific and Technical School, Isa Town Secondary School for Boys, the British School, Modern Knowledge, and in the fourth group: Al-Hidaya Al-Khalifia Secondary School for Boys, Sheikh Issa Bin Ali Secondary School for Boys, Al-Ahliyya, and Al-Rawabi Private School. The group stage competitions will begin on November 16 at the Bahrain Basketball Association Hall in Umm Al-Hasam, where the first and second from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals, which will be held in a knockout system, leading to the semi-finals, which will be decided by a winner-take-all system of three matches, in order to determine the two teams. Those who qualified for the final match. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Services expressed her appreciation for the efforts made in organizing the tournament that bears the name of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, praising the support that school sports receive from the wise leadership, stressing that such tournaments contribute to discovering and refining sports talent. The tournament is supported by private sector institutions in appreciation of the role and importance of school sports in discovering and refining sports talent. Talents and their refinement, as the platinum sponsorship is participated by: Toyota, and the gold sponsorship is: National Bank of Bahrain, Cineco, GMI, Unipal, and Royal Bahrain Hospital, while the silver sponsorship is participating: Sheraton Bahrain Hotel, National Transport Company, Travco Group and Gulf News newspaper.
