For all those in charge of charitable and humanitarian work, they are without a doubt an important gap in the gaps of unlimited goodness and humanitarian giving. They are the successors of God Almighty on His earth, performing a message of great significance and lofty value, which has rewards in the afterlife and an impact in this mortal world. Therefore, not everyone who has set foot in the area of charitable work considers himself an exemplary stature in leading the group, or a role model to be emulated in the strategies, strength, and dimensions of this work. This work has accumulated experiences of giving, impact, and field experiences. Charitable work is a practical field model through interaction with people, communicating their needs, and practicing it effectively through charitable and volunteer participation in all activities, and not just written statements, or theoretical practices devoid of a framework of realism. We need experts to frame this work and encourage young people to practice effective charitable volunteer work.
There are generous youth groups and individuals who have contributed to the establishment of many humanitarian volunteer institutions and teams, which have contributed to creating a real, influential and convincing image of humanitarian charitable work. This affected a large group of young people, who loved this type of work, especially work related to external humanitarian contributions, whether relief, or those related to some poor environments in need of support and development with regard to sustainable humanitarian projects.
I was impressed by the positive humanitarian energy of the charitable activist Fatima Al Khaja, during her interview in the “Humanitarian Questions Podcast,” produced by the Royal Humanitarian Foundation. The dialogue was full of love, humanity, and the spirit of giving and initiative. Through my follow-up of Sister Fatima, her founding of the Volar World Foundation, the activities she carries out through “Zanzibar” trips, and the great development she made by creating another number of humanitarian trips to several countries, I sensed her spirit of passion and creativity, her love of giving, influence, and the great impact she leaves on the souls of participants of all ages, with wide participation from a number of countries, to the point that some used to participate annually in the same place.
We need such influencers and activists, and for such projects to multiply and expand. The personalities of our youth and children rise through such practical field participation, in environments devoid of the most basic components of human life. All appreciation to Sister Fatima and her work team, and to all those who participate with her in the generous humanitarian journeys, as this is a fine educational method.
From the vision of Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait, the pioneer of humanitarian charitable work, who spent more than 29 years spreading Islam on the continent of Africa and converted more than 11 million people to Islam at his hands. He was keen on every dinar spent on charitable work. He said: “The money people paid to do charitable work, I cannot waste a single dinar of it.” It was reported that he used to stand every evening in the round circles that gathered the orphans to read the Holy Qur’an, moving from one circle to another to check on their memorization of the Book of God Almighty, then he would go out after dinner to check on them whether they had slept! When he was asked about this act of his, he said: “My brother, we are not waiting for testimonies from anyone. We worked in the field and we are only waiting for God Almighty to accept it from us.”
He rarely provided money to the needy. Rather, he was keen to establish small development projects from which people would earn money and help them live in dignity. When he was once asked when is the end? He replied: “The end until certainty comes. The reckoning is difficult, and you do not know the sins of Abdul Rahman Al-Samit. I will lay down my travel stick on the day when Paradise is guaranteed to me, and as long as I do not do that, there is no escape from work until certainty comes, for the reckoning is difficult. How can I retire and relax when millions need someone to guide them? How do I relax physically, and every week dozens of people convert to Islam through our programs?
We need such a sweet human personality, who believed in his role in the caliphate of God Almighty on his earth, and believed in the principles of goodness, giving, and true humanity, not to stand on the wall of disappointment, and rush towards troubles, skirmishes, and sterile arguments. We need minds that understand how charitable works work, and how to establish true fields of production and sustainability. We need thousands who carry what was carried by Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait, may God have mercy on him, who left the luxury of life and lived on the Black Continent among the needy, and was able to establish realistic and honest concepts for humanitarian charitable work, based on real production and sustainable impact, and with the help of people who were true to what they pledged to God, and whose goal was to make people happy, help them live with pride and dignity, and carry the banner that they carried before them, so that the values are passed on to generations.
How beautiful is giving when you practice it with those who are sincere in their good endeavors, those who have dedicated themselves and their lives to God Almighty alone, understand the purposes of life, pay attention to the importance of matters, and are keen on change, development, and establishing successful, sustainable projects that have many benefits and have a long-term impact. Giving is not linked to a specific time period, nor to a specific age. Rather, it flows through the arteries of the body of the nation of Islam, in the body of everyone who knows the meaning of their existence on this earth.
Some may be late in catching up with those diligent young and old who have dedicated their lives to giving, goodness and humanity, but there is plenty of time, as long as the breath of life remains, and as long as a person thinks about being an active personality and a pioneer among the pioneers of goodness and humanity, so he does not surrender to weak stations led by some sterile minds, but rather thinks about breathing a sigh of relief in larger spaces in the entire universe. Goodness will last until the Day of Resurrection.
A flash of hope: Do not ask when is the end as long as you breathe the breath of goodness, and always ask God Almighty for acceptance, and to make you a generous knight in the fields of life, with your beautiful impact.
