The recent legislative elections in Iraq revealed the emergence of a new element in the system of securing polling stations in various governorates and regions, namely “Captain Hassan.”
The country’s security authorities revealed that he is “a technical officer supported by artificial intelligence techniques, working to enhance election security and monitor field conditions moment by moment.”
A statement issued by the National Security Agency explained that “Captain Hassan receives intelligence information from the agency’s detachments spread across the country, and analyzes it immediately, to issue his recommendations and alerts to field commanders, contributing to increasing the speed of response and the accuracy of security decisions.”
According to the statement, the role of the new officer is not limited to field tasks, but extends to the intelligence and analytical fields, where he contributes to building awareness content to protect society from the dangers of electronic blackmail and digital misinformation, within the framework of a comprehensive strategy to enhance community security.
The statement considered that, “With this step, the authorities continue to consolidate the principle of comprehensive security based on intelligence and advanced technology, to ensure the stability of the electoral process and protect citizens and society at the same time.”
The curtain came down on the legislative elections in Iraq, to choose new members of Parliament for its sixth session, after the Commission announced the end of the specified voting time, as the competent committees are expected to soon begin the counting and sorting operations, in preparation for announcing the initial results.
