Emirati star Omar Abdul Rahman “Amouri” brought down the curtain on his football career full of achievements and great football creativity, during the player himself announcing his retirement from playing football on his Instagram account, turning a beautiful page of one of the most beautiful pages of Emirati and Gulf football over the past two decades.
Omar Abdul Rahman’s star rose with the Emirati club Al Ain, which he moved to from the Saudi club Al Hilal, where Amouri is considered one of the best Emirati, Gulf and Asian talents since the beginning of the new millennium, which made him the focus of attention of international clubs due to the talent and high technical skills he possesses, and an international football sense through which he competed with great players at the level of the game.
Omar Abdul Rahman was born on September 20, 1991, and began his football career with Al Hilal Saudi Club in 2000, before joining Al Ain Club in 2006, where “Amouri” achieved many achievements with Al Ain Club, where he won four Arabian Gulf League championships, three President’s Cup championships, and three UAE Super Cup championships, in addition to achieving the league title with Al Wasl and Al Jazira of the Emirates once.
On the international level, Omar Abdul Rahman participated with the UAE national team in many tournaments, most notably the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where he was among the golden generation that achieved this historic achievement by reaching the Olympic Games, in addition to his participation in many Asian and Gulf tournaments.
During the twenty-first edition of the Gulf Cup, Bahrain witnessed a golden generation of Emirati football led by coach Mahdi Ali and captain Ismail Matar. The name Omar Abdul Rahman was the brightest name in that tournament, in which the brotherly Emirati team was crowned champion, and Amouri received the award for best player in the tournament, well deserved.
“Amouri” also played with other clubs, including Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia, Al-Jazira of the Emirates, Shabab Al-Ahly, and Al-Wasl. The player faced many injuries during his career, including a ruptured cruciate ligament with Al-Hilal Club, which affected his performance greatly, and the injury made it difficult for him to return to the peak level and brilliance that he had shown for years, which forced him to retire.
Omar Abdul Rahman is considered one of the most prominent talents in the history of Emirati and Arab football, as he won the Best Player in Asia award in 2016, and contributed to leading Al Ain to many titles, leaving a football legacy that will remain present in the memory of the Emiratis in particular and the Gulf people in general.
