Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of the Public Business Sector, conducted an inspection visit to Al-Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company, affiliated with the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, in the Wadi Hof region in Helwan, as part of ongoing field tours to follow up on the progress of work and development projects in companies affiliated with the Ministry of Public Business Sector.
The Minister began his tour by inspecting the bus factory, which is witnessing a new stage of development and production, where he followed the progress of work in the various departments, manufacturing lines and modern machines that were recently supplied, and the most prominent products of the factory, most notably the “Nasr Sky” tourist bus, which represents the first return of production in the company since the last quarter of 2024 after a hiatus that lasted more than 15 years, with a production capacity of 300 buses annually, which is targeted to be increased, with a local component percentage reaching 63%.

Engineer Mohamed Shimi also inspected the production stages of the “Nasr Star” minibus, which was recently added with a design capacity of up to 500 minibuses annually and with a local component percentage exceeding 70%, and the current supply situation regarding these new products and contracts, praising the quality of manufacturing and the employees’ commitment to performance and production standards, stressing that this development demonstrates the ability of national cadres to compete in the vehicle market locally and regionally.
During the tour, the Minister followed the ongoing preparations for the production of new electric buses and minibuses, and reviewed the model of the electric bus scheduled to be produced to work within the mass transportation system, stressing that the transition to electric vehicles represents one of the main axes of the state’s strategy to promote green manufacturing and support sustainable transportation.
The tour included an inspection of the passenger car factory, which witnessed a comprehensive development of infrastructure and was equipped with the latest production, assembly and painting lines in accordance with the latest international systems, as well as the renewal of the Alpo line to keep pace with modern production requirements.
The Minister witnessed the operating trials of production lines and models of cars produced for Al-Nasr Company and a number of international brands.
During the tour, the minister was accompanied by Engineer Mohamed Al-Saadawi, Executive Managing Director of the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, Dr. Khaled Shedid, Executive Managing Director of Al-Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company, and a number of leaders of the Ministry, the Holding Company, and Al-Nasr Company.
Engineer Mohamed Shimi stressed that the revival of Al-Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company and its ancient brand “Nasr” comes within a comprehensive vision to localize the vehicle industry in Egypt, noting that the company represents one of the most important industrial edifices in the country due to its long history and strong production structure that has been developed in line with the latest international standards in quality, operation and safety.
Localization of modern technology in manufacturing
The minister pointed out that the ministry’s strategy is based on localizing modern technology in manufacturing and increasing the proportion of the local component in the company’s products, which enhances the added value of the national economy, contributes to reducing imports and providing sustainable job opportunities.
The Minister also explained that the development includes applying the highest standards of quality and operational efficiency in the various stages of production, and strict adherence to occupational safety, health and environmental protection standards, ensuring a safe and sustainable work environment that is compatible with the country’s trend towards green manufacturing.
He concluded his tour by thanking and appreciating the workers and management of Al-Nasr Company for their efforts in restoring the spirit of production and industrial discipline, stressing that the company is taking steady steps towards a promising future that makes the slogan “Made in Egypt” a reality that expresses leadership and excellence in the national industry.
