New Valley University, in the hall of the Electronic Testing Building in Kilometer 10, organized an awareness symposium, entitled “Egypt Pioneer of Peace in the World,” under the patronage of Dr. Abdel Aziz Tantawi, President of the University, and under the supervision of Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud, General Supervisor of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, and in the presence of Dr. Nazir Muhammad Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt, and a number of clerics from Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the Ministry of Endowments, and the Egyptian Church, along with representatives of the Senate, faculty members, and university students.
Dr. Abdel Aziz Tantawi, President of the University, stressed in his speech that Egypt was and continues to be a source of peace and a forum of civilizations, noting that the political leadership headed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attaches great importance to spreading the culture of just peace and sustainable development, based on a firm conviction that peace is the basis for building nations and the progress of peoples. He added that the University is working to instill these values in the souls of its youth through seminars and awareness-raising activities that enhance belonging and loyalty to the homeland.
For his part, Dr. Nazir Muhammad Ayyad, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, stressed that Egypt has throughout its history been a role model for tolerance and coexistence, as it embraces everyone without discrimination, and presents to the world a message that peace is not merely the absence of wars, but rather a system of values, morals, justice, and mercy.
He pointed out that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Egyptian Fatwa House play a major role in spreading moderate thought and fighting extremism, in support of Egypt’s call for dialogue and coexistence among the people of one nation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the dialogue was opened for the university students to listen to their opinions and discussions about the role of youth in supporting the values of peace and development. Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Tantawi, President of the University, presented the university shield to His Eminence Dr. Nazir Muhammad Ayyad in appreciation of his sincere efforts and distinguished role in spreading moderate thought and the values of tolerance and peace among the people of the country.
