The 29th Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait Junior Tennis Championships were concluded on Tuesday evening, November 11, at the courts of the Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair, which was organized by the club over a period of 11 days, amid wide participation of male and female players from different age groups, and under the continuous sponsorship of the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK), the permanent sponsor of the tournament.
The closing ceremony of the tournament was held in the presence of Ms. Rafa Qaddoura, Director of Public Relations and Corporate Communications at the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, on behalf of the CEO of the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait Group, Mr. Yasser Al-Sharifi. The ceremony also witnessed the presence of His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Tennis Federation, Dr. Ali Fakhro, Honorary President of the Bahrain Tennis Club, Dr. Faisal Al-Mousawi, and Mr. Khamis Al-Muqla, President. Former club member, Mr. Mohammed Al-Rashidi, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the General Sports Authority, Mr. Mohammed Salman, Director of the Legal Affairs and Licensing Department at the General Sports Authority, and Mr. Khalid Al-Abbasi, Vice President of the Bahrain Tennis Club, along with a number of board members and sports and media figures.
The closing ceremony witnessed a beautiful festive atmosphere that embodied the value of this ancient tournament, which is considered one of the most prominent and oldest tennis tournaments in the Kingdom, where the winners were honored in various age groups, in addition to honoring the champions of the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait Festival for the under-8 and under-10 categories, which was held on the sidelines of the tournament and achieved remarkable success in terms of organization and participation. Commemorative shields were also presented to the bank’s representatives in appreciation of their continued support for the Bahraini tennis career.
The curtain came down on the tournament with the crowning of champions in various age groups, where Ali Al-Janabi won first place in the under-8 category of the festival, Hamza Ibrahim came second, while Nour Hussein was crowned first place in the under-10 category and Abdullah Al-Sheif came in second place. In the girls’ singles competitions under 12 years of age, Serah Pirmas achieved first place ahead of Fatima Al-Mohsen, who took second place, while Fatima Al-Bajri won first place in the under-14 category, and Fatima Al-Mohsen came second, and Hajar Zidan was crowned champion of the under-18 category, ahead of Salma Faraj Allah, who ranked second. As for the boys’ categories, Abbas Nabil won first place in the U-12 category, Abdullah Al-Assad came second, and Ilyas Al-Ghafli achieved first place in the U-14 category, ahead of Ali Al-Khayyat, who came in runner-up, while Talal Al-Sayed won the U-18 category title, and Reda Hassan came in second place.
In her statement on this occasion, Ms. Rafa Qaddoura, Director of the Public Relations and Corporate Communications Department at the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, expressed the bank’s pride in its permanent sponsorship of this tournament, stressing that supporting youth and sports activities represents an essential part of the bank’s commitment to its social responsibility. For his part, Khaled Al-Abbasi, Vice President of the Bahrain Tennis Club, expressed his pride in the great success achieved by the twenty-ninth edition of the tournament, stressing that its continuation over three continuous decades reflects the depth of the partnership between the club and the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, and the commitment of both sides to supporting emerging talents.
