The Hebrew “i24” channel reported that the video calls made to the families of Israeli detainees on the day of their release were made via Israeli SIM cards that had been distributed by the Israeli security establishment to various areas in the Gaza Strip.
The channel reported that the Israeli army had dropped many of these chips into potential gatherings of detainees, with the aim of obtaining sensitive intelligence information about prisoners and missing persons.
However, Hamas succeeded in collecting these SIM cards and using them in a “psychological counterattack.” The movement activated the SIM cards, collected the phone numbers of the detainees’ families, and was able to make the leaked video calls on the morning of the hostages’ release.
She pointed out that the Israeli security establishment was aware of this step in advance, but the information was “leaked to the media by mistake.”
