Manna added, in exclusive statements to Cairo 24, that any limited increases that may occur will be minor, not exceeding 10%, and are due only to the increase in the prices of some clothing accessories imported from abroad.
The Egyptian product invades foreign markets
Manaa explained that the Egyptian product has become widely spread in foreign, Arab and African markets, thanks to the entry of foreign manufacturing companies into the local market, which contributed to increasing production capacity and diversifying designs and quality.
He pointed out that the volume of exports during 2024 amounted to about $2.82 billion, and that current indicators confirm that we are on the right path towards enhancing exports this year.
An expected increase in exports of ready-made clothing
Manaa expected Egyptian ready-made clothing exports to rise by between 25% and 26% by the end of this year, reaching about $3.5 billion, stressing that the sector is witnessing a real renaissance with the support of government policies encouraging export and investment.
The decline of imports and the rise of local brands
The Deputy Head of the Division explained that the proportion of imports of ready-made clothing from abroad is gradually declining, as a result of the state’s directives to rely on the local product, especially after the improvement in the quality of the Egyptian industry and its competitiveness in prices.
He pointed out that the local market now includes Egyptian brands that are comparable to international brands, thanks to the quality of raw materials and the low cost of manufacturing, in addition to them not being subject to customs duties because they are manufactured within the country.
International companies manufacture in Egypt
He pointed out that the current stage is witnessing a desire for international manufacturing companies to establish their factories in Egypt, and their production is focused on exporting to European and American markets.
He added that major Turkish, Chinese, American and English companies have already begun manufacturing within the Egyptian market, which opens the door to a new era for the manufacture and export of ready-made clothing, and allows the Egyptian consumer to obtain an international product at a competitive local price.
