Dr. Yousry Jabr, one of the scholars of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, answered a question from a woman who complains of a husband who is always quarreling and quick to anger and who does not reconcile with her no matter how much she tries to get close to him, and she asks about the Islamic ruling on that.

What is the Islamic ruling on a husband who constantly quarrels with his wife?… Azhari explains

Dr. Yousri Jabr said, during television statements, that what the husband does of constant abandonment and mistreatment is considered bad character, citing the saying of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace: “The worst of people is he who hates people and they hate him,” explaining that the Messenger of God used to accept the excuse of the one who apologizes and does not blame after forgiving, and that the best of people is the one who slows down his anger and rushes to contentment.

He advised the wife to be patient and pray, saying: “Pray to God to improve your husband’s character, and do not insist too much on reconciliation. Rather, perform your marital duties and be patient, and pray for him in your prostration.”

He also guided the wife to a gentle method of reconciliation, which is an indication of the frequent prayers upon the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, explaining that whoever prays frequently upon him, his name is mentioned in his presence, and that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prays for the one who prays upon him frequently, and his supplication is answered.

Dr. Jabr advised the wife: Guide him to the dhikr sessions and the book Dala’il al-Khairat, and share in reading it with him, as praying for the beloved softens the hearts, reconciles the relationship between the spouses, and instills tranquility in the home.
