On Friday, US President Donald Trump gave Hamas a deadline until 18:00 Washington time (13:00 Mecca time) on Sunday to respond to an American ceasefire plan in Gaza. “If this last agreement is not reached, hell has not been exploded that no one has seen before against Hamas. There will be peace in the Middle East one way or another,” Trump said on his platform “Truth Suosal”.

Plan items

The plan stipulates an immediate stopping of the fighting, and the release of 20 Israeli detainees alive in addition to the delivery of the bodies of deceased detainees, within 72 hours of the start of the truce, in exchange for the release of hundreds of detained Palestinians. It also states that Hamas will not have any role in the rule of Gaza, provided that the region will be managed temporarily through a Palestinian “technocratic and non -political” committee, under the supervision of an international transitional body in the name of the “Peace Council”, headed by Trump.

Various situations

According to the media that while Hamas’s political leaders in Doha expressed in preparation for responding to amendments to the plan, its military wing in Gaza refused, especially since the main condition includes handing over all hostages within 72 hours, which the movement considered a waiver of its only pressure card. It is estimated that 48 detainees are still in Gaza, including only 20.

Regional and international positions

Several Arab and Islamic countries welcomed the plan, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan, and confirmed their willingness to work with Washington to implement it, leading to a two -state solution and integrating Gaza and the West Bank into one Palestinian state. As for the Palestinian Authority, it described Trump’s efforts as “sincere and serious.”

Israel and the final position

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his approval of the plan, but stressed his refusal to establish a Palestinian state. He stressed that Israel “will end the mission” if Hamas rejects the agreement. This comes in light of a bloody war that has killed more than 66,000 people in Gaza since the October 7, 2023 attack, according to the Ministry of Health in the Strip.
