Statistics issued by the Ministry of Transport and Communications revealed that the land and public transport sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain continue to achieve remarkable growth rates, reflecting the extent of development in the transportation system and the Ministry’s efforts to enhance sustainable and integrated transport services.
The figures showed that the total number of public transport trips during the month of September 2025 amounted to 995,762 trips, with a daily average of 33,192 trips, while the total number of trips from February 2015 until the end of September 2025 reached more than 110 million trips, which confirms the increasing demand for using public transportation as a practical, safe and environmentally friendly option.
On the land transport side, statistics showed that the number of inspection campaigns carried out during the month of September reached 12, while the number of operating cards issued and renewed reached 3,440 cards, in addition to 34 licenses being renewed and 8 new licenses being issued, which reflects the Ministry’s continued efforts to regulate the sector and ensure that operators adhere to the approved operational and professional standards.
The public bus network in Bahrain is one of the main pillars of the land transportation system in the Kingdom, providing an economical, reliable and environmentally friendly means of transportation for residents and visitors alike. The network is operated by the Bahrain Public Transport Company under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and has witnessed remarkable growth to meet the needs of a modern and growing society.
The network currently includes more than 600 designated bus stops, and 26 carefully planned routes, covering major cities and residential areas, in addition to 140 modern, air-conditioned buses that operate daily, in addition to daily services with regular schedules and real-time updates through the official application and website.
