The US representative in the trade negotiations, Jamieson Greer, said that Washington is ready to engage in a trade war with China if necessary.
Greer said in an interview with Fox News in response to a question in this regard: We will see, it does not have to be a trade war, but we are ready to proceed with that if the need arises, and we believe that the Americans are ready for that.
Raising customs duties on Chinese imports
These statements come in light of the escalation of economic tensions between Washington and Beijing, after US President Donald Trump announced his intention to raise customs duties on Chinese imports by 100% as of November 1 or before, in addition to imposing restrictions on the export of software.
