Only four days after her marriage, the 19-year-old bride was surprised by strange practices on the part of her husband’s family. It became clear to her that he was unable to maintain a proper marital relationship, so he sought the help of his family, who decided to perform what is known as a “baladi wedding” for the bride. Between their refusal and their insistence, the groom tore his bride apart with a sharp object, injuring her face with 25 stitches.

Cairo 24 met with the victim bride, who was known in the media as the Talbieh bride, and who recounted her tragedy when someone started proposing to her, and after only 4 months had passed, she was married to him, without any prior acquaintance between them before that. He is a young man from Upper Egypt from Assiut Governorate who lives in the Talbieh area. The ceremony was held and the girl moved from her hometown in Gharbiya to Talbieh.
Strange practices and miserliness from the first moment, long hours without food, and an unstable and tense husband who knew nothing about marriage, forced me into a life I had never imagined, this is what the girl said at the beginning of her speech, and she added that after only two days had passed, and the husband had not succeeded in establishing a healthy marital relationship, his mother intervened and took his place and forced her to lose her virginity for fear of disgracing her son, in preparation for finding an alternative solution to this crisis. Her thinking guided her to the local warbler, a manifestation of ancient ignorance that no longer exists these days.
The Talbiyah bride says: I categorically refused to be subjected to this situation, and for my marital relationship with my husband to be witnessed by approximately 6 people, but I was surprised when my husband brought a sharp razor, cut my face and hand with it, and then started beating me until I lost consciousness, and they had to take me to the hospital, after my father-in-law took away all the gold jewelry I owned.
She added that she called her family after they prevented her from calling for hours, and she moved again to Gharbia, writing a report at the Talbieh Police Department, accusing her husband of inflicting on her a wound with 25 stitches in diameter, and the accused remained on the run since the incident occurred last June, until he was referred to trial while he was on the run, and the court session took place.
At the same time, the wife filed a lawsuit for dissipation of movable property against her husband, and obtained a ruling to imprison him for one year in absentia, demanding that he be arrested and brought to justice and that the judicial ruling against him be implemented.
