The Syndicate of Acting Professions, headed by Dr. Ashraf Zaki and its Board of Directors, mourned with great sadness the great critic, theater historian and director Dr. Amr Dawara, who passed away today, Thursday, after a career full of giving and creativity in the service of Egyptian and Arab theatre.

The union said in its statement: May God have mercy on the great deceased, make him dwell in his spacious gardens, and inspire his family, students, and lovers with patience and solace. His contributions will remain a shining mark in the history of Egyptian theatre.

A short while ago, the brother of the late director and theater critic, Dr. Amr Dawara, announced the date and place of the funeral, after his passing this morning, amidst a state of sadness in the cultural and artistic community. The brother of the late Amr Dawara said, via his personal account on Facebook: The funeral of the late, God willing, my older brother, Dr. Amr Dawara, will be held on Saturday, October 11, at the Omar Makram Mosque, immediately after the sunset prayer.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, mourned the theater director Dr. Amr Dawara, who passed away this Thursday morning, after a journey full of giving and creativity. The deceased left a distinguished mark on the artistic and cultural scene, as he contributed greatly to enriching the Egyptian theater through his works in directing, criticizing, and documenting the history of the theater and its pioneers.
