Shaima Al -Janahi, Director of Radiation Prevention at the Supreme Council of the Environment, affirmed that the nuclear energy is entering the circle of attention today within the national trend towards clean and renewable energy, noting that there is a trend in the inclusion of nuclear energy in addition to the renewable energy in the future energy mix of Bahrain.
She added in statements on the sidelines of the high -level round table session organized by the Middle East Sustainability Forum in cooperation with the Boston Consulting Group «BCG) entitled“ The Future of Energy: Expanding the Green Nuclear Energy, Renewable Energy and Finance Mechanism And generate them through reactors.
Al -Janahi said: “It is also necessary to invest in human capital by introducing scientific specializations associated with nuclear energy in technical colleges and universities, to qualify national cadres capable of working in the areas of employment and control.”
She explained that Bahrain is still in its early stages in this field, but it can benefit from the leading regional experiences, foremost of which is the experience of the United Arab Emirates, which has made a great way in the application of peaceful nuclear energy.
Al -Janahi indicated that the Kingdom signed an agreement with the United States of America to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, which enhances Bahrain’s opportunities to expand towards clean energy and diversify its future sources.
For his part, the researcher in nuclear energy d. Abdulaziz Al -Muthami that nuclear energy is one of the most important clean energy sources in the world, pointing out that the world today faces increasing challenges due to global warming and carbon emissions, which makes nuclear energy a strategic choice to reduce these emissions and achieve the goals of carbon neutrality.
Al -Muhtami said: “The shift towards nuclear energy requires building empowered human capabilities, establishing policies for nuclear security, and cooperating with specialized international agencies and agencies», stressing that these steps represent the basis for ensuring safe and sustainable nuclear energy.
The session, which was held at Al -Baraka Islamic Bank in the Gulf of Bahrain, witnessed the presence of a group of leaders of the energy and business sector, decision makers and financial experts from inside and outside Bahrain, where the participants discussed ways to integrate renewable and nuclear energy solutions into the national and regional energy mix, the role of organizational frameworks and innovative financing mechanisms in supporting this vital transformation.
“Our partnership with Boston Consulting allowed us to highlight the integration between technology, policies and financing to achieve the sustainability of the energy sector,” said Vin Mark Communication, CEO of the Middle East Sustainability Forum for Lila Danish.
As for the General Manager and partner of the Boston Consulting Group, Giuseppe Bonacorsi, he stressed that the region is heading towards the future of more varied and flexible energy, stressing that technological innovation and financing mechanisms should be walking alongside to support national energy strategies.
The forum is a specialized regional platform that enhances dialogue on carbon removal initiatives in the region, by organizing high -level sessions and workshops that combine the public and private sectors, which contributes to advancing climate work forward and achieving sustainable development.
The forum is supported by the Supreme Council for the Environment, as well as strategic partners, most notably the National Bank of Bahrain and Standard Charterd, and a number of national and international institutions in the energy, financing and sustainability sectors.
It is also a leading regional platform that promotes awareness and leading climate efforts at the private sector level in the Middle East and North Africa.
It focuses on adopting carbon emissions solutions and natural sustainability initiatives that are in line with the ambitious carbon neutrality goals of the countries of the region.
