Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, expressed his deep concern about the worsening conflict in Sudan, calling for the lifting of the siege on El Fasher and the safe delivery of humanitarian aid.

Conflict in Sudan

The spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, announced in a statement that the Secretary-General strongly condemned reports received regarding violations of international humanitarian law and human rights violations in El Fasher, including indiscriminate attacks and targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure, as well as gender-based violence, ethnically motivated attacks and ill-treatment, according to what Reuters quoted him as saying.

Rapid support crimes in El Fasher

A short while ago, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Khartoum government condemns in the strongest terms the horrific terrorist crimes committed by the Rapid Support militia in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, where it committed and continues to commit racist killings and systematic intimidation against unarmed civilians, including women, children and the elderly, in shocking scenes that their perpetrators document with pride and insolence, revealing their criminal nature. Which specializes in blood and terrorism.

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry added, in its statement, that the Al-Dagalo terrorist militia planned this genocide by besieging El Fasher and starving its population for two and a half years, to culminate on Monday in a horrific massacre added to the militia’s black record of atrocities and violations extending from the city of El Geneina to the villages and countryside of Gezira State.

She continued: The terrorist militia’s war against the Sudanese citizen set a historical precedent in genocide newspapers around the world, which qualified it to become a symbol of genocide and ethnic cleansing against innocent citizens. Wherever the militia is, there is killing and intimidation.

The Sudanese government repeatedly warned the international community of the danger of silence and inaction, and demanded the implementation of Security Council Resolution No. (2736) of 2024. However, the absence of international political will enabled the terrorist militia and gave it the green light to defy international laws and divine religions and continue to take lives, destroy cities, and desecrate honorable people.

She continued that the politicization of the crisis and the bias of some countries towards their political and economic interests, instead of taking a moral and humanitarian stance, directly caused the El Fasher massacre, and its citizen became a victim of the inability of international will, which views the citizen of Sudan in a dualistic light, far from international justice and the principles of human rights that it claims.

The statement concluded that the Government of Sudan and its people extend their condolences to the victims of the El Fasher massacre, and affirm, in line with the speech of the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces that he addressed to the nation today, that the armed forces and all regular forces in all their factions supported by their people will continue their constitutional duty to protect their citizens and defend the country’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and will use all legitimate means to deter this militia. terrorism, restoring security and stability, and achieving a just and lasting peace that meets the aspirations of the Sudanese people in all parts of the country.
